Lana Del Ray is an artist whose sound is closely interlaced
with her image. The visual representation of her music is clearly equally as
important as the songs themselves. On stage, Lana, real name Elizabeth Grant, plays
the part of Lana Del Rey as effectively as some of the great pop icons of the 20th & 21st Century. Fashion is an important part of
her on-stage persona; reflected in its contrast with her off duty style. With
the announcement of her new album title, ‘Ultraviolence’, and the release of
her short film ‘Tropico’ (watch below), last week, I felt I had to make a Steal Her Style
piece about the sultry starlet.
Lana Del Rey’s look is eclectic. Often her clothes are
incredibly feminine, with classic silhouettes, and heavily influenced by vintage
1950s and ‘60s fashion. She also takes inspiration from more modern urban
settings, incorporating heavy gold jewellery and California beach cool into her
outfits. On the red carpet she oozes old Hollywood glamour.
This outfit is a modern take on the sort of looks you would
find on It girls of the 1950s and 60s. Lana Del Rey often pays homage to
fashion icons such as Brigitte Bardot. The fluffy jumper is a big trend this
season.
The two piece is a popular trend on both the catwalk and the
high street. This Topshop skirt and top combination has the perfect level of
sophistication to reflect Lana’s glamorous side, while the earrings add a fun
twist to the outfit.
I love the modern vintage vibe of this outfit. The dress is
heavily inspired by the 1960s. I’ve added the flower crown to reference the artwork
for Lana’s single, Video Games.
I could easily see Lana wearing
this look on the red carpet. I love the colour of the navy vintage dress. She
generally keeps her look very clean and minimal for big events so I've kept
accessories to a minimum and just added the beautiful jewelled hair
piece with a classic pair of heels.
Depending on the gig, Lana sometimes teams a pair of
trainers with a feminine dress on stage. The cut of this Jones + Jones dress is
incredibly flattering as it creates/highlights the waist. It’s especially great
for pear shapes. This handmade hairband is also perfect to team
with Lana’s retro inspired voluminous and back-combed hair style.
The pretty feminine look of this outfit is perfect for
emulating Lana Del Rey. I adore the tassel detail on the collar of this shirt
by Choies. The rings by The Rogue and The Wolf are gold plated so there’s no
chance of green fingers at the end of the day.
This outfit is inspired by Lana’s off duty style. Unless you
are cold blooded, it’s probably a look to save for the warmer summer weather.
Beauty wise, Lana Del Rey is all about glamour. Her hair and that pout are her most defining
features.
She's all about the sultry Hollywood finger waved side swept hair,
or the voluminous ‘real big beauty queen style’. So grab
your rollers and curling wand, or pick up a backcombing brush.
To get the perfect full Lana Del Rey pout you don’t need to
reach for the filler injections just yet. Try this simple trick instead. Grab a lip
liner pencil which perfectly matches the colour of your natural lips and a clear lip balm. Lining
your lips with a natural liner defines the lip
line creating the illusion of fuller lips. You can add lipstick in a similar
shade to your own lip colour if you like more cover. Lana generally prefers a
matt shade, but if your lips are thinner, a sheer or glossy formula will enhance your pout.

DeleteWow, great post. I adore Lana Del Rey's style and all of the dresses that she wears! I've come across John Zack dresses before as well, they're always very lacy and pretty. I love the collage includes in this post. Nice blog!
